# eKYC Account Registration

Before signing with eSign v3, a signer creates a one-time eKYC account with eMudhra. The CA operates the eKYC system and does not expose it to external services; ASPs refer users to eMudhra's registration portal or app.

## Registration routes

See [KYC Types and Acceptable Documents](broken://pages/68267c3444049c11fb237079aa88a5f4d339ac16) for the full POI / POA document lists per route.

| Route | Verification | eKYC type |

| **Bank eKYC** | Bank sends a digitally signed `BankKYC` XML to eMudhra; bank certificate pre-mapped; PAN mandatory; mobile verified by OTP | BANK |
| **Organisational KYC** | Individual PAN + Aadhaar video, email and mobile verification, plus proof of organisation and authorised-signatory verification; ORGID and ORGSIGID assigned | Organisational |
| **Foreign national** | Identity and address verified directly by the CA; proof of organisation for organisational person accounts | Foreign |

## Common requirements

* **Video verification** — live video compared with photographs, following the CCA Identity Verification Guidelines.
* **Uniqueness** — mobile number and PAN must be unique across personal accounts.
* **PIN** — set by the user, meeting complexity rules; stored only as a one-way hash.
* **Second factor enrolment** — mobile for SMS-OTP and optionally TOTP app, eMudhra app (Mobile Access Token), FIDO2 authenticator or public key.
* **Username** — the account identifier used in `signerid` (`username`, `Mobile` or `PAN` id-types); it cannot be changed after creation.
* **Account validity** — up to 2 years; renewal requires fresh verification.

## Registration journey

1. User opens the eMudhra eSign registration portal or mobile app (link provided by the ASP).
2. Chooses a route and uploads / fetches the KYC source.
3. Verifies mobile and email by OTP.
4. Completes video verification.
5. Sets PIN and second factor.
6. eMudhra verification team approves the account (typically within \~30 minutes).

{% hint style="info" %}
The ASP never receives the signer's KYC data. Only the signer certificate (with name and response code) is returned at signing.
