# Error Codes

Errors are returned in `errCode` / `errMsg` of `<EsignResp>` with `status="0"`. Aadhaar authentication errors from UIDAI are forwarded using UIDAI's error codes.

| Code    | Meaning                                     | Action                                                                  |
| ------- | ------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| ESP-901 | Invalid authentication mode                 | Use AuthMode 1, 2, 3 or 4.                                              |
| ESP-902 | Invalid ASP ID (empty)                      | Populate `aspId`.                                                       |
| ESP-903 | Invalid ASP ID — does not exist or inactive | Check environment and onboarding status.                                |
| ESP-905 | Document hash not received                  | Supply `InputHash`.                                                     |
| ESP-906 | UID token does not match                    | Remove `ekycId` or pass the correct UID token.                          |
| ESP-907 | Request timestamp empty                     | Populate `ts`.                                                          |
| ESP-908 | Request timestamp invalid                   | Synchronise server clock (NTP); stay within ±30 minutes.                |
| ESP-909 | Transaction ID empty                        | Populate `txn`.                                                         |
| ESP-910 | Duplicate transaction ID for the ASP        | Generate a new unique `txn`.                                            |
| ESP-911 | Input XML signature verification failed     | Check canonicalisation and that the XML was not modified after signing. |
| ESP-922 | Invalid signature on input XML              | Sign with the certificate mapped to your `aspId`.                       |
| ESP-944 | User terminated eKYC process                | Offer retry.                                                            |
| ESP-945 | User terminated after OTP generation        | Offer retry.                                                            |
| ESP-946 | User interface page expired                 | Restart the transaction with a new `txn`.                               |
| ESP-991 | ESP database connectivity error             | Retry later; contact support if persistent.                             |
| ESP-992 | Input XML parsing error                     | Validate XML against the schema.                                        |
| ESP-993 | Error parsing CA response XML               | Retry; contact support.                                                 |
| ESP-999 | Unknown error                               | Contact support with `txn` and `resCode`.                               |
